Default How-To: Check your parasitic draw on your battery.

I've never, ever done a write up before, so here it goes.

Things you will need:
1. Multimeter, you can get them fairly cheap at autozone or radio shack. You need to be sure it can at the very least read DC current in amps.
2. A car(lol)
3. Aligator clips, while not a necessity they make things easier.
4. The proper tools to take your negative battery terminal off (on our cars all that is needed, is an 8mm wrench I believe)

Okay now that you have everything that you need, let's get down to business

Step one:
Disconnect your negative battery terminal.
Step two:
Turn your multimeter on and to the amp monitoring function.(this may require you to move the probes on your meter)
Step three:
Connect your aligator clips to the the probes on the meter if you so choose.
Step four:
Clip or hold the positive probe onto the battery's negative post.
Step five:
Clip or hold the negative probe onto the negative battery wire (the wire that usually hooks to the negative post.)
Step six:
Wait for the reading on your meter to level off a tad. It should go up to or slightly above near an amp when you first connect the probes/clips.

Now you have your number!

Some side notes:
Make sure you don't attempt to start your car or turn the lights on.
When you are monitoring the draw, be sure your doors are closed, the key is off and nothing is plugged into your cig lighter.

Well there you go.. if your battery keeps dying and you don't know why this can help you a lot, just keep pulling and reinserting fuses until your meters number drops quite a bit and there you have what is leeching your power. Hope this helps!
