Keep it. Repair it as needed.

Well, this sundays project is complete and more expensive than i thought. I think i ended up spending $80 but it was worth it. Oil change, and did a very thorough flush of the coolant and replaced with the green stuff. Also put in an oem thermostat now it runs at the proper temp.

Yeah it was fine before, i think they just had a 185 instead of a 195 degree thermostat, no big deal really.

Trying to think of something to do for next sunday. I cant think of anything major, ill probably finish sanding and buffing the rest of the paint.

So i decided at least for the mean time i HAD to get louder exhaust. I went to Lous Custom Exhaust (the local exhaust place around here) and had them cut out the cat which they did me a solid on because they could get fined and shut down fore that, and an 80 series flowmaster with chrome tips. Man does this thing sound like a BEAST!!! Ill post pics tomorrow.

So that means next weeks mod will be the valve covers, new permadry plus valve cover gaskets, new valve cover bolts, new pcv valve, and breather.

Week after will be MSD ignition coil, cap, rotor, wires, and copper ac delco plugs.

Just checkin in.

Mods didnt go in order as planned. I removed the AC Compressor and lines and replaced with a bypass pulley. Found out the grinding sound wasnt from the compressor. No big deal the AC didnt work anyway, had absolutely no pressure at all. Bad seal or o rings i guess.

Next replaced the alternator which was the culprit. No more grinding sound.

Next im going to be removing the smog pump. It too is pretty loud, and with no cat its kind of dumb to have it in there. With that gone and the lines with it, it should clean up the engine bay quite a bit. Ill need a shorter belt which is fine, it needs a new belt anyways. Looks almost like its ready to snap, so this will be a high priority to get that new belt on.

Sometime down the road i need to look into the power steering pump. It has a slight leak, nothing catastrophic but it will need to be dealt with before it gets bad.

MSD ignition and Chrome valve covers will have to wait. Looking into possibly a custom chip for my car. Well see.
