Default Crazy user, Insane swap!

Firstly, I would like to apologize right now if this thread does not belong here. I don't know where it would go, Mod, please kindly move this if it is not in the proper location. Thanks!

I want to swap in a 3.5L DOHC LX5 V6 from an Oldsmobile Intrigue or Aurora. Yes, I am crazy. I just like the specs of the motor. 215hp and 234lb/ft in an all aluminum V6. According to a search and subsequent thread on pirate 4x4, I heard a rumor that these engines only weigh 322 lbs. I'm sure that's a dry weight.

The main issues I can see are harness swap, bellhousing compatibility, and not being able to find a way to turn the upper plenum around (somehow) since it is only available in a transverse architecture.

I'm looking for thoughts from optimists please. I can already come up with a lot of reasons why it WON'T work. Unless you know of a TOTAL deal-breaker reason, please help me overcome the challenges with this swap.

Thank you!

AWESOME! I think it will be a challenge for sure. But I'm looking for a challenge and it looks like the rewards will be worth it .

I think I'm gonna try it. There's one in a car in the junkyard near me and I have a few days off!

You could always attempt to convert the camaro to FWD instead of turning plenum haha.

Wahaha! Yeah, and why stop there? I heard that there is some kind of AWD setup for an old Pontiac 6000 (Transverse, I believe.) Go all out on this one!

There is a pic on google of someone who put a s/c on one! (Fiero guys are crazier than I am!) So I think that it will be possible to hopefully put a 3.8 UIM on it or something...

If all else fails, I have a Cavalier I can put the Shortstar in and then put my Series I L67 in the 'Maro! But I want to try!

WAHAHAHA! Right?? That's what EVERY OTHER Chevy is for! In the days where most Monte Carlos you can remember are FWD, it's kind of a grail to have RWD.

I am hoping that the starter (I'm going to the JY later today to start on the disconnect..) will not interfere with the steering column. I know SO LITTLE about the Shortstar. It may be that the starter is between cylinder banks like the N* and I hope it is.
Any input? How much success have people had with putting FWD engines in our F-Bodies?

Loads of them have 3400's hehe.

I read somewhere that the bellhousing on the LX5 is the same as the 60 V6's like the 3400. I wonder if you could use that to solve your transmission mating problems.
