Well, that's what I'm hoping. I went and checked it over really well today and the starter is on the "wrong" side-- just like all the FWDs I've seen so far. The bellhousing on my T5 in the Maro now is a 60 degree "GM Metric" bellhousing but it has a twist...
Literally a twist in it that holds the trans at an angle. I might lose that with the FWD bellhousing, but I'm definitely going to take it when I pull the motor!

Haven't other people done FWD swaps on here in the past? What has been their solution?

Another thing that I'm concerned about is how WIDE this motor is...I was looking at my Camaro tonight after a trip to the JY and I'm not even sure that this thing will FIT between the shock towers!!

If I can do it without cutting into the body I will proceed.

Thank you all for your optimism!!

I hope this is an EDIT:
Going to the jy today to get that LX5. It's bolted to a 4T65E, so bell housings won't be too bad.
I'll keep posted on progress...
EDIT:
Got the motor, harness, PCM and a major headache! LOL

Well, I sold the Camaro so I won't be doing that swap...

JUST KIDDING!!! WAHAHAHA!!

I just love it when people do that. They come here with hopes and dreams, disappear for a while and post that they sold their F-body.
I'm doing this thing though! Considering turning this thread into a "guide" so others can see my mistakes and avoid them.

What do I have to pay to gain picture privileges?

Thanks!

Thank you! This is SEEMING to come together quite nicely. The bellhousing pattern on my T5 matches the LX5 almost perfectly. The only differences are the starter location and the lower right side bellhousing to block bolt. In FWD applications, people call it the B!TC# bolt because it is only accessible through the passenger wheel well. I had less trouble with it than I anticipated when I pulled the donor motor on Saturday.

I AM concerned about the overall width of this monster V6. I hope it does not interfere with the steering!

Another possible obstacle is the exhaust. I am considering leaving the crossover right where it is if I can make it clear the firewall above the bellhousing because it would make for an ideal turbo setup in the future! (For those who have not dealt with GM FWD V6s before The left bank exhaust dumps into a small manifold that pipes up and over the bellhousing to the right, larger manifold which has an inlet in the rear side and a large outlet straight down. This, although not as effective as a Y-pipe, sets me up for an easy home-made adapter to a 4 bolt flange for a turbo later. (When I dream, I dream big)

SORRY for the long winded post, I'm just SUPER stoked about this!

Actually the post was so long that I sold the Camaro before I finished. Thanks anyway for all your input. Just Kidding!

My second post on this page was supposed to be an edit to the first. I apologize! (Thanks Nexus 7!)

Thank you sir!

Yes, I plan to photo-document every step of the way! I had better get a photobucket membership to go with my LT here.

I hope this turns out to be a great build. Not just for me, but anyone who has thought of some engine they like and wondered: could I stuff THAT into my F-Body??

I want to be unique, but not so much that it is unique but it sucks!

Thanks!

I'm still not even sure that I CAN do this... But I will throw everything I have at it. I think it could be awesome!

If it interferes with the steering, I say you do some fabrication, and rear mount it. Bet you could pop a wheelie then. Plus think of all the trunk space you could have under the hood vs that tiny cubby in the back.

i'm thinking to clear the steering you can fab a custom header on that side. the block should physically fit i would imagine
