The fan relays in these cars always burn out so quickly. It's because the relay gets ridiculously hot and so does the wiring. The cause? 27 foot of load wire!
So I cut about 20 foot of load wire out and moved the relay. The results are that the stock fan pulls harder, the car cools quicker, and the relay runs about 30 cooler. Also the load wire no longer runs through the rest of the harness. First pic is the stock length. Second is the new length on the left, all the cut out load wire on the right.

Next up, the conversion to DIS ignition. This one is still in progress. Have all the wiring connectors situated. Just need to get rid of the ac and heat panel completely for a spot to mount the ICM and coils. No more dizzy for this guy. More rpm headroom too!

Weight reduction is key. LOL. Especially for us sixxers.

About 75% done with the DIS install. Figured out mounting by modifying the mounting plate a bit. Just wiring in now, then some setting changes in Tunerstudio, and confirming timing matches with a light. Should net me an extra 1500-2000rpms without spark breakup due to dwell time on a single coil. Also better spark resolution and the added benefit of a few extra ponies.

I've got it fully wired in. The issue is everyone who has done the swap with a Megasquirt ECM seems to have given up on making it work with the MS. Which is shit for the community. So I'm not settling until I get it working. The reason for this is the variations in the different DIS ICMs. They seem to all differ slightly depending on engine variation. Mine I pulled from a v6 Buick Century. So it should be close, but ideally I'd need an ICM from a 95 Camaro 3.4 car. Anyone have an extra laying around the could cough up for testing?

IT'S ALIVE! Turns out the online pinouts are wrong for the crank position sensor. It's purple on pin A and yellow on pin B, not vice versa. I made a few jumper wires and said, hey what the hell I'll try anything at this point. Jumped the two wires and turned the key and it immediately started. Ran like shit though.

Had to dial in the trigger angle, which used to be 10 with the dizzy to net the same timing at the balancer. With DIS it needed to be set to 65 to get me 10 at the balancer. Man its never idled so smooth before.

Now just chasing the Bypass not sending 5v for MS to control the timing, other than that it seems to be running beautiful!

If you had any idea the itch I had when I was accumulating the turbo parts you'd just jump in.

Like being in the Amazon with no bug spray itch status.
