I've only run a couple small things with the TIG and always went back to the MIG. I've welded 2 different exhaust setups on my car, modified the passenger side log header, 2 downpipes. 4 runner exhaust, 327 camaro exhaust, hood scoop, etc..... I could go on for at least an hour about all my MIG welding adventures. TIG, not so much lol

I mean, shit I've got 5 years of welding practice on that POS drivers side log. The thing weighs a ton now. So glad to be rid of the bane of my existence.

I've put about 7 or 8 heat cycles and about 100 miles on it. Today I'm running a 10 hour shift delivering in the Camaro. So far so good. I haven't WOT yet, but I've given it a little gas and man it accelerated way faster and spooled sooner.

So I definately have to add fuel up top. Knock city when I got into it so I got out of it quick. But holy shit man when the boost hits, I'm gone man.

Well, needs more tuning now but it runs like a bat out of hell. I've done multiple 21psi hits and it's definately maxing the injectors now. Had to back it down to 17-18psi. If I push it hard in 4th it'll spike back up to 21psi lol.

Yes you heard that right. I gave it 21 psi in 4th. And it held. It's rich right now, but further tuning is on hold for injectors and a new torque converter.

It performed well. However, the abused 3.4 has dropped to 7psi of oil pressure at idle.

Got a guy pulling a 112k mile 3.4 for me with great oil pressure for 200.

Then I'll have one to build up as a hybrid and a good block in the Camaro.

Not suprised at all. Suprised it's still going lol.

Backlash opened up to .009 from .008. Still within spec. Minimal particulate in the gear oil. Good wear pattern on both the ring and pinion. Cleaned it out, put fresh lucas in it and called it a day.

Took it out for a drive and hammered it good. Trying to get the boost to a safe level of 18psi, still spiking to 21.5psi lol. That's the max my MAP will read. Sucks too cause she really starts pulling up there.

Wound up leaning out to 13.2AFR, 32ms pulse width on the injectors and 133% duty cycle at that 21.5psi. No bueno.

Gonna get her back out tomorrow and try to get that boost backed down.

I thought I had blown an exhaust gasket, but it wound up just being the ball flange. Tightened it down and she's silent again. Well as silent as unbaffled and unrestricted 3" exhaust can be LOL.

I discovered another thing while I was under there. The sway bar end links need to be modified because I'm 2" lower. To keep them in the right alignment I need to shorten all 4 of them 2".

Will get around to that soon.

Hybrids are pretty simple. But if you don't use a 3.4 block and crank you need to buy or fabricate an external crank trigger.

After that it's pretty much bolt on. Get rid of the dizzy (if equipped) for the DIS setup, use the corresponding FWD pistons (if using 3400 sfi top end use the pistons from the 3400 to maintain CR).

Only issue debated here is pushrod length. Someone has found direct swap pushrods, but the best bet is to measure pushrod distance with the tool and get custom length pushrods.

You'll still be using the flat tappet lifters, but everything else will be roller.

Good for almost 100 extra hp.
