![]() Today was the day I started tearing apart the engine in my bird. The LIM was so shot that as soon as I poured water in the radiator it immediately flowed out of the block.
Unfortunately I didn't get as far down as the lower intake yet but here is my progress so far. I'm also at a standstill because when I took the manifold cover off, the upper manifold and gasket were completely different from the parts I ordered. Maybe those parts were for either a newer or older engine style, I'm not sure =/ Intake taken off ![]() Tensioner and alternator pulled off ![]() Throttle body taken off. The gasket pretty much shattered as well ![]() Manifold cover off. This is what I was talking about ![]() The upper manifold gasket ![]() Manifold cover ![]() Throttle body needs some serious cleaning ![]() I have to get a tool to pull the fuel lines of the rail, as well as try to find he correct parts I need. If I could get the fuel lines out of the way it would make the rest of the process a lot easier

![]() Ha no I'm just saying this is funny because of how often this happens. It's nice seeing that someone actually made a guide. You don't really need a tool to get the fuel lines off, but just any small set of fuel line tools should work fine. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...u=00946337000P Those will do the trick for it. You going to clean all that up and paint it while you have it apart? Oh and while your in there you might as well replace the plastic coolant elbow in the lower intake. Just realized did this seriously happen at only 56k miles?

But yea I'm gonna do some serious cleaning, probably not gonna paint it but I'm going to polish it up and make it look new. And I plan on replacing the elbows too. As far as the mileage, it has 106k on it. I put the "56k warning" because of the amount of large pictures. I'm thinking about it. I did not intend for this to originally be a guide but hey sure why not.

![]() I would almost bet you got the upper intake gasket for the fwd 3.8's that use the composite manifolds. Looks like you have it under control though, its not really a hard fix at all. Good learning tool as well.
