Default 3x00 motor

Is this conversion possible with a stock 3.4 cam? If not, what would be some routes to take to gain power using a stock cam without using forced induction.

3x00 is a universal way of writing all 3000 series engines, such as 3100, 3400, 3500, 3800, 3900, etc.

What are you actually asking? haha

I know that. Every conversion I have read about in here uses a different cam to achieve more power along with different heads, manifolds, and possibly cylinders. What I'm asking more than anything, is there a way to go about doing a swap of parts without swapping the cam and still getting a power increase. Manifolds and heads can be swapped with the engine still in the car, the cam can not. Not easily at least. I'm fine with doing engine work with the engine still installed. Not so fine with, nor do I have the tools to, pull out the engine.

Cam can be swapped if you remove the radiator I believe..

You can take the cam out with the rad in on the 3800, don't see why you can't on the 3.4.

I think what Nismo is trying to ask is if it's still worth it to do the top end swap while still using the stock cam. I'm curious about this as well. I can get all these parts from a local wrecking yard for dirt cheap but if I have to do the cam I may as well wait until I get the cam done before I go and buy the parts. So does anyone know if you can still have the stock cam on the 3.4L while doing the top end rebuild?

Thank you. That's exactly what I was trying to ask.

Ive never heard of a successful top end swap motor. i was going to do it but im going in a different direction. if you can get it all to work good it would be great. I think you need to modify your fuel injection harness for different injectors, and you gotta make you ECM tunable with a wiring harness that cost over 300 bucks. Theres alot of modifing to be done.
