![]() It's an F23a VTEC engine from a 98+ accord. Slightly better power and torque with minor improvements. I can wire the VTEC to kick whenever I want depending on how I setup the input for it.
I also gain a knock sensor, and a boost in CR from 8.8:1 to 9.3:1. The JDM place was pretty cool. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And one of the JDM engine code ![]() Japanese parts all over. Very clean and only 30k miles. Has original parts on it that definitely don't have any more wear on them than 35k. Plug wires are original and the contacts are a shiny as brand new. ![]() I was going to go around in circles and tell you where all this research went, but I'll save everyone the trouble of trying to understand my scattered thoughts.
Here is the short version. I'm going to be using the F23a block with the F22b2 Head. Just have to carry over the oil control orifice to the F23a block from the f22 block. As long as the head checks good for straightness I'm gonna use it. This is the cheapest and least labor intensive option that I have come up with. And through my research I won't be disappointed. ![]() Just a little bit. F22 is 8.8:1 F23 is 9.3:1. Without doing the math I'd split the difference and say 9:1 CR.

![]() Progress update.
Got the f22 head off. Taking a break before I clean it up and check for straightness. Got to finish pulling the intake out, then I'm going to unbolt the rest from the block, unbolt the clutch from the flywheel, and pull it out without the trans. Cylinder 4 definitely had a blown head gasket. The chambers on both heads are the same, it's the Pistons determining the CR between these two motors. That means I'll be jumping to a 9.3:1 CR from a 8.8:1 CR. I should notice it running premium. ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |
