I participated in the car show at work today sponsored by a local tuner to benefit the Army Emergency Relief fund charity. There were about 30 participants broken into the categories of American cars, foreign cars and motorcycles.

Two owners of heavily customized Audis ran the show. So the remaining foreign cars were all very late model Subaru WRX. Naturally one of them won.

A 2001 Viper GTS ACR won American by 1 point over a 1967 Shelby GT500. The Viper was bought by the current owner a few months ago. The GT500 was bought by the current owner in 1984. I admired the Viper but had more respect for the GT500.

A custom painted Harley won motorcycle, but someone brought in a somewhat rare 2010 Moto-Guzzi 750CC cafe bike. I had never seen one. It has a transverse mounted 90 deg V-twin, mated to a shaft-drive transmission.

There was also a WWII vintage Jeep, military Harley and Dodge sedan.

Someone brought a nice 1969 Camaro SS with a built 350. I told her about the Gathering but hard to say if she'll be interested. However she did mention going up to Pigeon Forge for car shows. Someone also entered their orange 5th Gen SS. It was nice.

Everyone got a certificate.

Unfortunately pictures are officially a no-no at work, but if I can find out if any authorized photos were taken I will share them. You've seen enough of my car but there are others worth posting.

nice Matt. that sounded like a good event. I'll probably be attending local shows now that i'm painted. there is a big car show in conjunction with the Elvis Fest here in Tupelo. probably close to 400 vehicles from new/late model down to model Ts or even before.

Open events like that are fun because of the variety. There were a few big shows near me the past few weekends but I was not able to participate.

Finally got a pair of the correct exhaust hangers. I don't know when it happened during the 10 years before I got the car, but at some point a pair of the wrong hangers got put on. They were at least 1 inch too long and caused my over-the axle pipe to hit the top of the axle.

The correct GM Part Number is 10243316.

Hey, Post #1,000!

It is pretty obvious which is the old and new hanger:

Well, I changed the oil tonight and noticed a quarter-sized spot of coolant on the floor.

While underneath to drain the oil pan I traced the coolant to dripping off the rear of the engine.

I could not get it really high to get a good look, but suspect the lower intake manifold gasket because there is some coolant at the front of that as well. There is a decent mechanic who did some work on my wife's car for me, so when I get a chance will take it to him to put on the lift and really figure out what is going on.

When I rotate the tires later this week I'll have the car up on jacks so will try to get some pictures.

Yeah, I had to replace it on that white Oldsmobile. That was a bitch but at least it was a little easier to reach everything. I will probably have to drop the motor on this car so I can get to all the bolts. Some can probably get it in car but not sure I can.
