Default 3.4 Starter "How To"

Your 3.4L starter is held in by 3 mounting bolts?

Yes. 2 5/8" bolts and one 3/4" bolt. The 5/8 were lower and faced downward. The 3/4 was a little higher and faced toward the back of the car.

So that 3rd bolt, the 3/4" hex bolt, was not holding in the starter. To be honest, I don't know what purpose it served.

Here's what I needed for this project (All prices from AutoZone):
BATTERY - $80
8mm hex socket (-)
10mm hex socket (+)

Y-PIPE
PB Blaster for rusty nuts/bolts -$8
13mm hex socket (y-pipe nuts)
10" ($8) and two 6" socket extensions to reach
one of those jointed sockets things...don't know the proper name...for the upper bolt on both sides of the y-pipe

STARTER -$90 with $20 core charge
breaker bar (bolts were in tight!)
5/8" hex socket (bolts holding starter)
13mm hex socket (solenoid cable)
8mm hex socket (solenoid cable)

Also, my starter has 3 bolts, the wires to disconnect have 2 nuts. So something is clearly different. The Y-pipe is still the issue. I have about 1/4-1/2" before the starter will slide out. Does anyone have any new info?
3 bolts? , but looks like you will have to drop the exhaust from the manifolds to get the room to work with.

Oh didn't see those last two post. Glad you got it figured out.

Monster S4? Are you talking about a Motorcycle?

I'm not sure what your refering to.
